Crystal Mandala

The Mandala of Attainment

A Crystal View

One evening, while sitting with a friend at the dinner table, as the clock edged close to midnight, I observed how peaceful the candle light was. It was a simple thought, but I put it into words and shared it verbally. Then, a discussion developed, and from that an insight into what might be called a "crystal view". This is a starting point for all the work we might do hereafter with crystals, and so it seemed worthwhile to remember and set down the insights of that moment.

Crystal Cosmology (an overview)

The perspective we bring to spiritual practice, and our collaboration with crystals, is always personal, to some extent egocentric, and therefore limited at the beginning of the long spiritual journey. But in time, and with a progress in experience, this changes. The microcosm we mistakenly refer to as “mine” or “myself” is only one vessel in which a cosmic alchemy is taking place, one particularized instance of a universal process. And although we may choose to be conscious participants in this great event, we are by no means the real doers of the transmutation – only its instruments.

Beginning to Meditate

William James once wrote: “Each of us literally chooses, by his way of attending to things, what sort of a universe he shall appear to himself to inhabit.” The motivation for any action has a great bearing on the longterm effect of that action, particularly for the doer, but also for the world at large. Only deeds done with a pure motive in the spirit of right relationship lead to liberation and realization.

The Divine Mother

All the mothers in the world are children of one Mother. This Mother gives us her physical body for our use, from which we assemble physical bodies that we call our own. In reality, every atom of our bodies comes from Her, and when our brief lives end, to Her they will return. This Mother gives us also the food we eat to sustain our bodies, and the energy in that food. She furnishes us with the subtle matter of our auric sheathes, the astral matter of our astral bodies and the mental substance of our minds. There is nothing we have, nothing we call our own that is not Her gift to us.

Reaching Out

When you behold and reach out to touch a beautiful crystal, what is happening? Whence does this impulse to have and hold arise, and where does this opening to crystals and their energies lead? It is the starting point of a journey in consciousness. This journey or adventure of consciousness feeds our need to realize our full potential, to feel the deepest reality of our being and to know the purpose for which we have been born.
